Correct. Consume 15 grams of fast-acting carbohydrates when you are experiencing a low blood sugar. You can also find glucose tablets at any local pharmacy that have 15g of carbs.
Avoid Overeating: This can cause correction to take too long ! Stick to 15 grams of fast absorbed carbohydrates ( 1/2 cup of soda or juice, 1 tablespoon of honey, or half a banana are examples). You may also be dealing with high sugar after the low causing a vicious cycle
Also avoid foods high in fat and protein which slow sugar absorption.
This is particularly important for anyone on insulin or sulfonylureas as they are higher risk to cause hypoglycemia.
